4th of July 2 0 1 0

The 4th of July was awesome this year. We opted to celebrate it on Saturday this year. Normally we go to Provo and watch the hot air balloons and watch the parade. This year Provo decided for some dumb reason to have the parade on Monday. Tad had to work and Dayna had to leave for girls camp that day so we couldn't go on Monday. I was trying to figure out how we could go to the balloon festival and still have time to get to a parade that morning in another city. So I searched the internet and found out that Sandy does a night parade at 6pm. That was perfect since we normally go see the fireworks show in Sandy every year. So this is how the day went. Woke up early and left at 5:30 am to the balloon festival, we watched a few balloons getting blown up, it's so cool to watch. I took a picture of the pig balloon, that is one of my kids favorite. This year there was a new balloon, shaped like a coke bottle, it was huge! It was windy that morning and many of the balloons were falling over on each other. The announcer said they need to wait for the wind to die down before they balloons could go in the air. We waited for over and hour and they still didn't feel like it was safe to let the balloons in the air. We finally decided just to go home, so I don't know if they ever got them in the air. When we got home we made a nice breakfast and then we all took a nap. That afternoon we went to see the movie Toy Story 3. It was such a cute and funny show, the kids loved it, even Adam watched most of it. After the movie we headed to Sandy. We were able to find a nice shady spot on the parade route & set up our chairs. There was still a little time before the parade was to start so Dayna and I went to go look at the vendor booths. We ended up getting to cute bracelets. Jason and Adam found us and we looked at some more booths. Adam found this cute little squishy caterpillar, he didn't put down almost the rest of the night. We went back to our seats and watched the parade, it was a good parade, other than there were way to many politicians in it, but a least the kids got lots of candy. After the parade we were starving and so we went to KFC-we go there every year, it's a tradition. We took our chicken and went to our favorite spot to watch fireworks, luckily it was still available. As we were waiting for the fireworks to start, the boys threw those little poppers on the ground. Adam absolutely loved it, he kept saying "mom look, it popped!" over and over and over. It was so cute. Cheap entertainment. Then the fireworks started, it was about a 15-20 min show. Jason took a really cook picture of one of the fireworks so I put it on here. We are so grateful to live in the USA and for the soldiers fighting out there to keep us safe.

Thayer Family Reunion

We had a great time at the Thayer family reunion. This is my mom's side of the family. Grandma and Grandpa Thayer had three daughters. Naomi (my mom) Mary & Esther Even though Grandma & Grandpa are gone, they left quite a posterity, I think we counted about 75 all together. Esther and her family were in charge of the reunion this year. We met at park near where she lives. She rented a bounce house for all the little kids to play in. While the kids were jumping, all us adults got a chance to talk and eat. It's nice to be able to catch up with everyone.
